Model of welded locomotive boiler without a row of horizontal stays above the firebox. Such stays were subsequently added as a modification to the boiler prototype design which showed wrapper distortion and stay failure in adjacent areas.

Animation is of a repeated cycle of pressurisation up to 1.628 N/mm2 and back down to zero again.
Actual maximum distortion is around 7mm.
