The G.F.G. DesVignes steam engine which had been removed from Consuta in 1923.

This picture was taken at Tom Taylor's yard probably before WWII.

Below is the same engine after some restoration by Kew Historic Steam, being steamed at Kintbury in 1999.  Note that the flange on the steam pipe had been removed, probably by Tom Taylor for installation at the boat yard to drive some bending rolls.

The steam pipe is 1½ in diameter, the exhaust is 2¾ inch diameter.

The boiler in the photo for the steam test is a Merryweather size 'B'.

We found that this engine would turn over very nicely with less than 10 psi

This is the engine from Maritana which was rescued by Mr. Murray of Canadian in 1929. The engine is still in existence.

There are some differences in the detail; for example compare the big end brasses of the two engines.

DesVignes was always making changes, as a consequence none of his engine were ever identical.

Unfortunately we do not know the bore and stroke of this engine, so is it the same as
Consuta's?
