Some Photos of Consuta

taken early in the 2007 season

First -- the relaunching day in April

Now that is travelling in style

The 75 ton crane was much larger than we usually have, but it did have a long reach

 The trip up to Oxford

4th May 2007

Approaching Abingdon Town

Oops we seem to have loaded some smoky coal. I suppose not PC in this day of green credentials.

Tony suggests we should burn wood which is carbon neutral!

About 2 pm, the sun is beginning to come out at last.

The sun is out at last as we go through Sandford Lock at about 3:00pm

The River Thames at Oxford

Just a few hundred yards from Folly bridge and there is a delightful college barge

The EA yard at Osney Lock

Finally arriving in some brilliant sunshine, though rather windy.

Time to pack the boat up and set off for our return by train

The train ride back to Pangbourne took half an hour

the river trip took over eight hours

Consuta joins in the Oxford

"Go with the Flow" event

7th May 2007

Splendid gig running down through Folly Bridge

Racing Bangladashi boats.

We were told the really big ones are over 70ft long with forty rowers!

Our mobile mooring post at the Donnington Road bridge

The finishing point  of the procession

The VIP's board at Folly bridge.

I think the lady was the lady mayoress of Oxford with the gold chain

Some Gondolas moored at the VIP start immediately upriver of  Folly Bridge

Some admiring spectators.

Go with the Flow in Oxford

Consuta made four or was it five runs between Folly bridge and Donnington Bridge carrying lots of people.

We handed out loads of leaflets and it was very rewarding to hear comment from spectators.

During the event we used some Welsh anthracite kindly donated by Mundays of Burbage,

not a wisp of smoke but plenty of steam.

Thanks to all who helped make this a memorable visit.

It is unlikely that Consuta has ever been further up river than Osney; unless you know different!
